In the 1960s, the artist Guy de Rougemont was interested in the ellipse shape. The artist’s furniture is an excellent illustration of that. His Cloud Table created in 1970 for the famous New York designer Henri Samuel is iconic and known worldwide. The table top has the free form that he had already used in his paintings. The artist remains above all a painter. “His Cloud Table is famous, to such a point that you could forget that it’s the work of a painter” underlines Adrien Goetz. The shape of the famous Cloud Table is found in the white ellipses of the 1965 artwork presented here.
