For more than fifteen years, the Galerie Diane de Polignac has been dedicated to the rediscovery and promotion of post-war artists. After a decade spent on rue de Gribeauval, we are opening a new chapter in its history at 45 rue de Penthièvre, with the aim of offering ever greater visibility to the artists it represents.

The gallery works with about ten estates, bringing together a remarkably coherent group. Coming from all horizons, these artists chose Paris as their place of creation, where they met, forged friendships, sometimes united in life, sharing studios, cafés, salons, and galleries. Together, they embody the artistic effervescence that made Paris one of the great centers of post-war modernity.

This cosmopolitan community brings together the French artists Huguette Arthur Bertrand, Bernard Buffet, Pierre Fichet, Jean Miotte, and Marie Raymond; Albert Bitran, born in Turkey; Inès Blumencweig and Sergio de Castro, born in Argentina; the American Loïs Frederick; Roberta González, of Spanish origin; Robert Helman, born in Romania; Roberto Matta, originally from Chile; Maria Papa Rostkowska, Polish; and Gérard Schneider, born in Switzerland.

For ten years, the gallery has devoted a demanding exhibition program to them, each accompanied by a scholarly catalogue produced in close collaboration with the families, enriched with unpublished archives, texts, and testimonials.

Our inaugural exhibition celebrates this singular approach. All the works presented were selected “At the Source” and come directly from the artists’ families, who guarantee their history and provenance. This selection was made in close consultation with those who knew the creators and whose precious testimonials enrich our perspective. Thus, the exhibition path brings together, for each artist, pieces from various periods and techniques, reflecting the full diversity of their creation.

It is a real source of pride and great joy to welcome you to this new setting to present them to you.
