How did the artist Hans Hartung die?
Hans Hartung died in 1989 at the age of 85 in Antibes, France. An art exhibition of Hans Hartung’s work entitled Premières peintures 1922-1949 was organised by the Musée Picasso in Antibes in 1987. In the same year, the painter Anna-Eva Bergman, who was Hartung’s wife, also died. The painter received numerous tributes. The Hartung-Bergman Foundation was founded in 1994 in the couple’s former home and studio in Antibes.
