How did the Cuban painter Wifredo Lam die?
The Cuban painter Wifredo Lam died in Paris on 11 September 1982 at the age of 80.
After suffering a stroke in August 1978, the artist found himself partially paralysed and dependent on a wheelchair. This did not, however, stop Lam from continuing his work as an artist, mainly working in engraving and creating ceramics and sculptures. Wifredo Lam divided his last years between Cuba and Albissola. The Cuban painter died in Paris on 11 September 1982. A state funeral was organised in Havana on 8 December in the same year.
