How did the artist Olivier Debré die?
Olivier Debré died on 1 June 1999 in Paris. A few months before his death, the painter was elected a member of the Académie des Beaux-Arts in Paris. Debré passed away in 1999 at the age of 79. In 1995, a major retrospective of the artist’s work was presented at the Galerie Nationale du Jeu de Paume in Paris.
Olivier Debré designed tapestry sketches and a postage stamp, as well as numerous stained glass windows. In parallel to his work as a painter, the artist also worked on engravings, sculptures and ceramic works. The Centre de Création Contemporaine Olivier Debré in Tours has presented modern artworks by Olivier Debré in the context of contemporary art since 2017.
